Pork Membership
The average cost to buy and butcher a hog is around $700-900 dollar a hog when buying a hog raised on pasture and using a local processor. The hog cost range from 400-600 for a market weight hog and the processing cost depending on smoked meats, packaging, and sausage can range from 200-600 dollars for a market weight hog. We understand that can be a tall order for a family to come up with all at one time in this economy. So we have reached out to our 3 main processing facilities to work out a standard cut order and trim costs so we can make a new exciting offer to our beloved clients.
Starting in 2025 we will be offering a new membership program. This will be a monthly (or yearly) subscription where every 3 months each member will receive a box of goods produced by the farm. They majority of the box will be pork related but may contain other goods the farm has produced including eggs, produce, dressed poultry, crafts, and farm merchandise. The boxes will weight between 50-150 lbs and the contents will slightly change each quarter. The exact contents cannot be promised as it will depend on yield and the butcher we are using but most boxes will be 80% pork and 20% other goods.
EVERY box will contain:
3-10 lbs of Bacon
5-20 lbs of Pork Chops
5-20 lbs of pork sausage (the exact type will vary per box)
10-60 lbs of misc. pork products which could include ham, pork steaks, pork hocks, pork lard, Boston butts, pork ribs, ground pork, whole dressed chicken, whole dressed quail, lard, whole dressed turkey, and/or whole dressed rabbit.
ALL items included in your box will have been raised, grown, or created/crafted on our farm with the exception of the special gifts which sometimes may have been designed and ordered by us.
The majority of the boxes contents will be pork products other products are included as available and sometimes the box will ONLY contain pork products. EVERY box will include bacon, pork chops, and sausage. Every box will weight at least 50lbs some boxes will weigh more but none will weigh less. We aim that each person shall receive no less then 300 lbs of product per year. Typically our Summer and Fall boxes will weigh the most each year. This comes out to an average of $3-4 a lb for your pork and the weight equivalent of 2 whole butchered hogs per year.
The cost for this program is $125 per month.
Your boxes will be prepared and ready on the third Friday of the following months:
Spring Box will be ready in March.
Summer Box will be ready in June.
Fall Box will be ready in September.
Winter Box will be ready in December.
Boxes will be able to be picked up at our farm or at one of our remote pickup locations which include: Dothan, Enterprise, Andalusia, Montgomery, and Auburn.
Some key facts about this program:
You can only sign up for this program during the enrollment period that will occur the Nov 18th-Dec 18th the year BEFORE the year your subscription will start.This is because we need to know how many hogs to keep back from our winter litters to have enough hogs to meet demand. You cannot enroll after this period until the next open enrollment period the following year.
This is not a “cancel anytime” program if you sign up you are agreeing to complete a 1 year contract of $125 a month starting on the 1st of February. You will pay the payment for January when you signup. Payments will continue every month on the 1st until the final payment on December 1st. This program will NOT automatically renew at the end of the year. You must re enroll for the next year manually if you wish to continue to program. Failing to make all monthly payments will incur penalties.
You will not be able to pick or chose in anyway what is included in your box. We try to include a good variety of what the farm has produced each quarter but we cannot promise you any specific cut outside of the guaranteed included bacon, pork chops, and sausage. You will not be able to pick the kind of sausage.
We have a maximum membership capacity of 100 subscribers as this is the maximum amount of hogs we can raise per quarter. We require at least 5 subscribers in order for the program to run as this is the minimum amount required to cover the cost of raising and processing at least 2 hogs.
This program is the cheapest and easiest way to get farm fresh pork (and other products) as its actually a savings from buying a whole hog directly from us and does not require the consumer pay the processor or have to figure out how to fill out a cut sheet. It also gives a smaller amount of pork which is easier to manage whilst still ensuring the customer gets at least 300 lbs of high quality and ethically raised farm to table pork each year.
Farm Box Subscription members will also get the following benefits:
25% discounts on all other goods and services produced and sold by Evovandia and its related sub divisions including GuardianKin Kennels, Thaimese Cattery, Amerihorse Transport. Members will also get invited to farm events including the annual Harvest Festival in October of each year.
To give you an idea of savings, our standard hog sells for $2 a lb live weight or $3.60 a lb hanging weight. A standard market weight hog will be around 150 lbs hanging or 280 lbs live weight for a price of $560 for a market weight hog. This market weight hog will cost around $180 + a $65 kill fee to process out to basic cuts. If you would like sausage lets say 20 lbs of sausage thats going to be another $30-40 bucks, and if you get your ham and bacon smoked you can figure on another $40-80 bucks. So out the door on your purchased hog you will have paid $900 for around 140 lbs of meat or $6.42 a lb.
With this deal you will pay $1500 over 12 months of payments, receive 300+ lbs of meat, and pay $5 a lb for it or $1.42 less. It will be delivered in smaller amounts at one time so you can more easily store it. And you will be helping us better plan out our next years pig raising. We would really like to move to this method of production because it is beneficial for everyone. It gives us better planning ability on how many hogs to breed and raise each year. It gives a better more manageable pricing to our customers. And it lets us schedule our slaughter dates with our butchers more consistently.
So here is how it works:
You fill out the sign up form and we will pre-authorize the first months $125 fee. This is not a charge and will likely fall off before the Dec 18th closing date. The charge to your card will finalize on Dec 18th. If this payment bounces you have 72 hours to get us a new payment source or you will be removed from the subscription and cannot sign up again until next year. If we do not reach the 5 signup minimum all per-authorizations will release and you will not be charged. You will be notified by email if this occurs.
On January 1st members will get your welcome to the Farm Box membership email. You will receive 1 email each month from the farm updating you about things here and what to expect in your next box. You will additionally receive 3 reminder emails that you will be getting a box. The first one will be 30 days before the box is ready. The next email will be 7 days before the box is ready if we have a textable phone number we will also text you this notice. And you will receive an email, text, and phone call the day the box is ready. You have to pickup your box from us within 5 days of notification of your box being ready. We cannot store your box longer then this. Boxes not picked up within 5 days will be donated. There is NO refund due for failure to pickup your box.
