Hog Purchases
Piglets:
We expect 8 litters on the ground between Nov-Feb and typically we will have a few piglets from each litter for sale. Piglets are $100 each and available to those on our waiting list first. We require a nonrefundable $25 deposit to join our waiting list and piglet choice are offered in order of your position on the list.We rarely have piglets available that do not go to someone on our waiting list.
Our piglets are hybrids between large hog breeds chosen for their growth weight, robust health, and temperaments. The majority of our hogs are Yorkshire mixed with Red Wattle, Hereford, or Hampshires. We wean piglets at 4-6 weeks of age and they must be picked up within 7 days of weaning. They typically will weight around 25 lbs at 4-6 weeks of age and can be easily handled and transported within a medium dog crate. Our piglets are sold entire, however we do offer castration of your male piglets for $25. This procedure would be handled by our vet and we need notice if you want your boar piglet castrated.
Our hogs are not intended as pets and are not handled as pet pigs would be. They grow rapidly and top out at around 400 lbs. They are not ideal house pets. These are not mini, Julian, or pot belly pigs. When properly fed they will typically reach slaughter weight (280 lbs) around 8-9 months of age.

Juvenile/Adult Hogs:
We currently have no hogs for sale except those with slaughter dates. To keep our slaughter dates we must haul hogs to the processor on those dates and only currently have enough extra hogs to do this. We do not maintain a waiting list for juvenile or adult live hog sales. Hogs are sold on the hoof and prices vary depending on the size and age of the hog.
Half or Whole Hogs
Our main business is providing half or whole hogs for processing out. We have the following slaughter dates reserved for Hayes Meat Processing in Cordova AL:
Sept 23rd 2024 – Feb 17 2025 – July 22 2025 – Oct 20th 2025
Hogs sold as half or whole include transport to the butcher in Cordova or to a butcher facility within 100 miles of Brantley AL. Hogs will be weighed at the butcher facility after the hog has been slaughtered. This is known as the hanging weight. Our standard fee for the provided hog is $4.60 a pound of hanging weight. This is the base price for our hog and does not include the cost to process the hog by the butcher which is a separate fee. The processing fees vary depending on how you want your meat cut, packaged, and how much of it you wish to be made into sausage or smoked.
The average 280 lb market hog will weigh about 200 lbs give or take hanging weight or around 100 lbs per half. The average cost of processing tends to be around $150 for a half hog.
Half Hog full cost on average is $600 when all is said and done. This is not an exact price just an average it could be a bit more or less depending on your choices with the processing and the weight of the hog.
A half hog will typically yield:
- 20-25 lbs of pork chops or loin roast.
- 15-18 lbs Ham
- 7 lbs of bacon
- 2 Shoulder Roasts
- 10 lbs of Sausage or ground pork
- 1 rack of spare ribs
- 2 Hocks
For a whole hog you simply need to double the above numbers.
How our process works:
- You order a whole or half hog from us and receive, sign, and remit the hog purchase contract along with your deposit of $50 for 1/2 a hog or $100 for a whole hog. These deposits are NOT refundable unless we cannot supply a hog for the slaughter date you are contracted for. Please thoroughly read your contract. Deposits can be made via Zelle, Paypal, Cashapp, or in cash. We do not accept checks.
- You receive a cut sheet for our processor and fill it out with your choices and provide that back to us at least 14 days BEFORE the slaughter date.
- On the slaughter date we will transport the hogs to the processor.
- The processor will alert us of the hanging weight and we will invoice your for the cost of the hog at the contracted price per pound. You are required to pay this invoice within 5 days of receipt.
- If you are picking up your meat yourself at the processor this concludes our involvement in the process. You will pickup your meat and pay your fees directly to the processor. If you fail to pickup your meat within a certain amount of time the processor will charge a storage fee and you risk losing your meat entirely. If this happens there is no refund due from us.
- If we are picking up the meat and bringing it back to Brantley or Dothan the processor will alert us the meat is ready and of the amount due for the processing. We will invoice you for this cost. This invoice must be paid within 48 hours.
- You pickup your meat within 3 days of being notified it is available for pickup at our facility or at the arrange time for the NEXT drop off in Dothan. Our drop offs take place at Rural King in Dothan.
